After being absconced in the countryside at Ridge Farm with Toolskid earlier this year, I returned to my studio and mixed an album for Portsmouth band
Jets Vs Sharks. Their last release did very well and this one looks promising too.
It scored a rave KKKK review in Kerrang! this week, here it is:
Jets Vs Sharks
These Tired Monuments
(Cat N' Cakey)
KKKK
They've got nothing in common with 'West Side Story'.
Sometimes a band comes along that you want to see in a basement so bad you'd move house to make it happen. Jets Vs Sharks belong in a dark and claustrophobic room with drums thudding at chests, bass vibrating off walls and sweaty, veiny-necked men screaming at the top of their lungs. This Portsmouth quintet remain one of the finest - and most under-rated - hardcore bands in the UK. And this time around they're sounding more versatile, incorporating elements that remind you of Hot Water Music one minute and Jimmy Eat World the next. It's rough and tumble and invigorating - exactly the way hardcore should be.
