The mic seems to possess better sonics than everything else in its price bracket. It's got no proximity as there is a roll off of the low frequencies starting at 200 Hz. Most side-address condenser mics I encounter in this price bracket tend to end up being used for niche things such as handclaps, toms, hand percussion, guitar amps. I think the AT2020 more capable than that but YMMV.
