| Best way to use external hard drive
Well, just about done setting things up in my little studio. N12, iMac Intel G5 and HS50Ms finally have a place to live. The last thing to buy (yeah, right) is an external drive. Western Digital, "G" and LaCie on the short list. 500 GB, Firewire 400/800. An Apple Store techie suggested a slightly different approach: Instead of saving my Cubase projects directly to the external drive, he recommended saving them to my iMac home folder and using TimeMachine to back-up the internal drive to the external drive. Since I will be using the iMac only for music production, it seems like a good scenario.
Any problems with this?
I have another question about hooking the N12 to an APC UPS. Should I connect to the surge protection only, or is it better to have the UPS protection as well?
Thanks!
