I think either method of speaker design can give you a good honest representation of the sound. I hated my genelecs cause they made everything sound good, even if the mix later proved to suck. I liked the Martin Logans but they changed sound a little with the weather. I am now using the Adams for main monitors and Inner Sound Isis electrostats for bigs and checking mixes. I think 801's and other high end mains would work fine too. There are lots of speakers that lie and lots that dont. I think using a reference volume is just as important to mixing vocals.
