Here's a great combo for all the ITB guys.

I've been using this on male rock vocals recently:

Sm7 --> Chandler TG2 --> DAW --> Neodynium Comp ('Vocal 2' preset) --> Sonalksis Comp (fast attack, auto release, threshold to taste).

The Neodynium (with this preset) is a great "upwards" compressor and the Sonlksis rides transients in a way we're familiar to hearing. The result is a very clean sounding, heavily-compressed vocal sound that doesn't sound "squashy" during louder vocal passages.
