You do understand that the sitar player could not actually play with the existing harmony as it was recorded? I didn't mean to say that originality requires extensive manipulation, and, certainly it all starts with the source and the room. My point was only that recording stopped being only about documentation (with the exception of jazz and classical purists) a long time ago.
