i can't disagree with anything you said; it's very reasonable. i was just outlining the possible non-damning alternative, or one of 'em, anyway.
as for someone yelling they're not going to pay for f'ing plugins, etc. i'll add that concluding that the claimant is a ******bag is probably not unreasonable. however, it's not yet illegal to be a ******bag, and i generally try to avoid accusing people i know little about (other than their online hyperbole) of being criminals.
