Sorry, I don't buy it. Buddies of mine who have left the established studios and built their own amazing rooms (sometimes better than the high end studios they hired out before) are doing the same if not
better work as they can settle in and have the rooms built to work best for
their needs...
In some cases, sure, producers are settling for cutting records in untreated dens, but the guys I'm talking about have done it right.
