Wow. Just, wow.
Where to start. . .
I guess with the fact that the channel plug in
does look different (reads "G Channel " instead of "E-Channel", it's a shade lighter, the bell select on the top and low read "LMF÷3/HMFx3, and the top frequency knobs are pink instead of red, and EQ to switch is "FLT DYN SC", instead of "Dyn SC", the E channel has numeric readings above the amplitude knobs).
Sonically, most people I know seemed to prefer the E eq to the G. The Dyn sounds the same in both plug-in's to me. Jon Gass popularized putting E channels in the G console, and it's one of the reasons the 9000 has a switch to go between G and E characteristics (in theory). If you can't tell the difference in sound with the eq's (specifically the Q's on the eq), I dunno what to tell you. It's huge. Like, slipperman could hear the difference with a wet gunny sack over his head while snorting poprocks through his left nostril and 'Faygo Rock and Rye' soda in his right nostril and humming the theme song to Green Acres.
If you don't hear it, do a search, research "constant Q", and download an opinion to use as your own.
Here's a quick Q clone pic comparison with both boosting 6db on each frequency which will demonstrate how different the width of the Q's are.
