indeed, the idea I guess would be that if the store had to sell at a 10% discount for it being an open box they would recoup that by charging a 10% restocking fee to the person returning it. However, it seems based on anecdotes here and in my own personal experience that some retailers like GC are perfectly happy to get their restocking fee and then flip it as new to the next unsuspecting customer.
