You won't need much horsepower for that, unless you get into using software effects. If you're doing everything on the hardware workstations (including effects). A cheap dual core will do. Your audio/midi interface may very well cost as much if not more than the computer in this case. How much are you thinking about spending on a computer. If you're really thinking about saving money, You can look into getting a Linux (
Ubuntu Studio) setup and using Ardour as your DAW.
