| i wouldnt in general say looking for sounds 'designed' for a hiphop is a good idea (with the possible exception of drums - making real hard hiphop drums is difficult and it's important they bang, so I might be tempted to use other peoples hiphop drums), simply because every wannabe producer in the world is gonna go 'oh look, hiphop presets, these will make me sound like dre/timbaland, im gonna rinse them'... surely you want to find your own sound, and going for sounds that are presumably created by sound designers looking at the current hits and fads, will just come up with some very familiar sounds... look for sounds that arent specifically meant for and marketed as hiphop and make them into hiphop, and you might actually come up with something thats unique. |
