Yeah this kills me! About 5 years ago I was in Frys electronics and after seeing that every pair of headphones said "For Digital Audio!" I decided to ask...
I walked up to the nearest salesperson with the most perplexed and dumb look I could muster and the conversation went like this:
Me: "Excuse me. I wanted to know if these will work with my CD player."
Sales Guy: "Sure"
Me: "But these say 'digital' and I'm pretty sure my CD walkman doesnt have a digital output. Do I need some sort of adapter?"
Sales Guy: "Nope, just plug them in and it will be fine. They are just optimized for Digital Audio"
Me: "Ok, but my CD player only has an analog output so do these have converters in them?"
Sales guy: Ummm... I... uhhh... Think of it this way... they aren't digital or analog. They're stereo.
At this point I literally dropped them on the floor, turned around and walked out of the store.
