I use all 3 alot (3a, 2a, 1176), however.
I've almost never had a use for helios, I will try it on bass, but I usually like my modulus as is through my pres, with just a little la3a.
I disagree, I find the Fairchild to be amazing almost always on the buss, if I need to, I compensate for the bass loss with post comp eq. Awhile back, someone posted a recommended setting to start with on UAD's site, which I've always used as a great starting point, and works most of the time. it is:
left/right/lat/vert=5
dc bias=2 o'clock
threshold=0
in/out gain= adjust as needed
This setting almost always add pseudo-analog life to the midrange of a mix I have, much like my neve 5043 comp. |
