The Flamingo Jr. is a good, honest, unhyped sound, warm but not bassy, and sweet, clear highs that are not edgy. It's got transformers, which helps with a vintage tone that is neither muddy nor spiky. It is not larger-than-life, but has a certain Neve-ish compressed quality that can be quite helpful.

The Flamingo Jr. is a serious mic as good as any in its price category and better than many I've heard.
