Thanks, George, that's good to know because IMO it'll be worth a shot buying a new PC with Vista since they are plentiful and many are relatively inexpensive. I'll assume that the 2 of 5 calls are general info calls and not show-stoppers.
I've been sitting on the fence for a while procrastinating but I'm at the point where I need to take the plunge. I've already decided on the N12, just need to mate a laptop to it. I've been looking at the custom made-for-audio PC models but if there are off-the-shelf models that are running with no issues I don't see why I shouldn't try one. I realize that, at least from what I've read, the N12 requires the TI chipset for firewire but I think the plug-in firewire card is a workaround for that, right?
Any thoughts are welcome,
