From the very little bit that I heard at AES, I was pretty impressed, but I'll reserve judgement for when it is commercially available. You are still looking at another couple months out or so until it is shipping. I've always liked my Lynx2 card and I can't imagine that it would sound worse...
Eventually, in the card slot for it, there will be a firewire add-on card with both FW400 and 800 available. It won't be out for another few months, though. When it is available, you won't need the AES16, though, to get into your computer.
