As far as their function, no. And that particular mic capsule is mounted dead center and has a uniform distance between it and the grill all the way around. Sweep between the different directional modes and listen closely. And we're talking about a fairly easy procedure to fix this so you're using the other side for cardioid. That gold can flake off if you have someone clean it the wrong way even. These good mics are delicate things.
