Well, I haven't used m-powered, but to my knowledge they are identical but for one important feature that may or may not be of importance to you personally...
...if you're interested in scoring to picture or doing any kind of serious post-production sound work, than LE or HD is the only way to go in Digi land as M-powered does not support SMPTE timecode.
Again, depends on what you want to do. If you only ever plan on doing music recording, then you may as well go with the cheaper m-audio hardware...I haven't looked at the configurations, but I'm fairly sure that there's a cheaper way to get way more inputs than what you're planning.
