I have never seen or heard of hoops being out of spec BUT I have encountered numerous shells which were either out of round or the wrong diameter. If Taye are sourcing their shells from o/seas rather than from Keller then it is quite possible that that's where the problem is.  |
Just wanted to say I have purchased a Pork Pie kit and a new Luddy kit that had out of round hoops. The drums themselves were fine, but the hoops were closer to the drum in some spots than others, making the drum hard to tune. How do I know this? I have an Ayotte kit with round hoops- I measured- and they fit perfectly on both the Pork Pie and the Luddy. Out of round hoops do happen, albeit, not very frequently.
