Decent sounding unit though. I used one for many years. By my understanding it was the first dedicated stereo digital limiter available. 16 bit I/O only, also word sync. Not a hard peak limiter though.. it had more of the effect of an upwards compressor, very natural and subtle when required (and its gain plots, from memory, look very similar to that of parallel compression). The irony... Last I heard Sony were junking any they had left, literally compressing them... via a garbage compactor.
A 24 bit version of the DAL is included in the Sony DPS-V77. I haven't actually ever used that program however, and the unit is a floater, so it doesn't reside in mastering. Might be interesting to try sometime.
