Although I was all bollixed up posting yesterday (the 100+ deg F heat was boiling my brain), this appears to be a correct interpretation, depending on context, of course.
Another possible spelling according to
Eddie Boston's Chord Designer (free web service) would be:
G#m#5/A as well as
E/A.
I've found his Chord Designer and
Chorderator (also a free web service and/or cheap DL'able program) to be invaluable tools. (When I can manage to enter a fingering or chord spelling correctly, anyhow. Ahem.

And you can customize it to work with
different tunings, string sets, so I use it to calculate chords on my banjo and my mandolin, as well.
Me... I never know the name of the chord I'm playing and seldom care except when it comes time to annotate my writing or communicate with others. And then it's usually easier to just jot down the chord tab.
