One could argue that the differences between those emulations isnt that big anyway.
After all most of the emulated synths are all based on substractive synthesis with some differences in the available modroutings and some of the oscillator waveforms (Prophet VS) so Arturia is probably basing all of their synth on the same core engine anyway and just modifies it for each emulation.
That said i still think that both packages are a very good bargain.
But personally i prefer the Gmedia stuff when it comes to emulations. |
i completely dissagree with you. I hesitate to even give this an answer. yes most of the emulated synths are based on subtractive synthesis, but they're based on very specific instruments, all that have their own character WAY beyond the differences of mod routings etc. I can't imagine they used the same templates for each, and just added some routing differences here, a few different filters there, etc. granted, these are emulations, but the magic in the original hardware synths was not nearly as basic as different FEATURES of each synth, but an overall CHARACTER and sound of each synth, which i believe they rather successfully captured with some of their models. I mean listen to roland strings vs korg strings, vs moog strings, vs prophet 5 strings...it's not just about features and different parameters and routing, there's an overall character.
I for one, having been a past jupiter owner, thought they did an excellent job(except with the unison mode...which was a let down)
FYI, i liked the gmedia imposcar, but not the minimonsta so much
