I'd suggest posting in Low End Theory instead. You'll get responses more oriented to what you're trying to accomplish.
I've used all three. The 1082 won't cut it for drums and is not expandable. The PMIO is a good controller with a cheap jog wheel.
Grading on the curve, the converters are slightly better on the 1884, the control surface a step better on the PMIO. Pres are fairly equal.
The 1884 has the benefit of stand-alone mode where you can use it as a controller and 8 EXTRA inputs through ADAT into a better interface when you upgrade. Gives some longer usefulness. Let's also not forget that it's expandable as a controller.
