Looks like an afterthought but works fine.
All my questions re superclock are now irrelevant. It is clocking fine from my mutec clock at standard 44.1 clock rate.
It seems API have seen the light regarding the stupid superclock only thing.
The modded one has standard WC in and out as well as the superclcock in so is much more useful.
They should let the masses know about this because I am sure they have lost lots of sales because of the superclock issue.
BTW it sounds wonderful. It arrived just in time for laying guitars on a metal album I am recording and it sounds way better and more aggressive than my ISA220 or Digi Pre.
Hopefully someone from API can confirm that this mod is now standard, because they initially told me it was a $400 "upgrade". |
Well they added a PLL to allow word clock sync. And that may mean the converter isn't as high quality. Or it might mean the converter is better quality. However it is more of a challenge to produce a converter with a PLL. And in any case, it would be better to run it on internal sync if it's your most important converter pair and your other converters have good PLLs/jitter suppression.
