I'm going down the same path but its not really by choice, more like financial necessity at the moment.
I sold just about EVERYTHING I owned this past year--lots ov vintage gear that was absolutely heartbreaking to let go ov but desperate times call for desperate measures.
I'm actually looking into a similar set-up as yourself. Either a Mono Evolver Keyboard or PolyEvolver and an Akai MPC for drums with the addition ov a Doepfer A-100 down the road.
Some ov the best songs I ever wrote were written on a Sequential Circuits Pro~One, an Emu esi-32 sampler, and a Roland R8 drum machine. Sometimes a handful ov select hardware pieces that you know really well can streamline the process, often with better results than a plethora ov gear thats never hooked up half the time.
