Great ideas and nominations...some "stealth" cuts that come to mind. Nothing crazy...just builds a tremendous sense of anticipation for the main riff.
-Eruption (Alex Van Halen)...flam, ruff...ruff....EDWARD
-Peg (Rick Marotta)...masterful use of the ride cymbal
-Tripping Billies (Carter Beauford)...great latin cowbell vibe into some sweet riffage
-Back in Black (Phil Rudd) ...never have hi hat quarter notes (combined with Angus' palm
mutes) been so beautifully simple and perfect...sets the stage for one of the most
memorable riffs of all time
-Creeping Death (Lars Ulrich)...wow...does this opening ever set the stage for some
metal up your a$$. The cymbal chokes (combined with those amazing chords) KILL
-Come Together (Ringo Starr)...the coolest little texture show courtesy of an underrated groove meister
-Fire (Mitch Mitchell)..."Allrighta...now dig this baby" name a catchier intro...I dare ya :)
I could go on...there are so many...I will let some other Slutz have the floor.
