BFD can sound very real if well programmed - I've emailed the OP some tips and shown him a few tricks...

1) Enable anti-machine gun mode
2) Have a high velocity layer count
3) Vary the tempo - in Pro Tools use the Pencil Tools to draw along the tempo line to slightly vary the tempo
4) Separate the MIDI out to separate MIDI Tracks so you can ...
5) ... use RTMP's (Real Time MIDI Properties) in Pro Tools to delay or vary the velocity of some of the pieces (hat for instance)
6) Make sure your MIDI velocities aren't too close to 127 - BFD needs room above and below the velocity to randomize the velocity -- if your level is too close to 127 there's no way to randomize upwards and you're reduced the amount that the program can randomize which hit is selected
7) Use our drums (which have up to 250 velocity levels)
