No, hardly - I would say its the voice.
Its more kind of a "heavy" voice. Those voices get distorted when growing older.
Distortions of the voice are like the wrinkles of the skin - sign of age
But it is right as well, that the room may add some distortion too, or just emphasizes the distorted voice (but it doesn't seem so in this case)
