can voice clip a mic from 5m?

hi all!
i just had a different kind of gig - i recorded a guitar-soprano duo for a CD release. overall, it turned out better than i expected, but i have this distortion in voice on certain high notes. i posted the complete problem with samples in the remote/acoustic forum:
samples - clipping of the voice itself, or is it my bad?

so far, i didn't get a satisfactory response, so i'm asking the postpro people to chime in, as this is not a specific musical problem, but also technical/voice related (i had similar experiences recording dialogue).

my main question is:
can a soprano clip a microphone from 5m (16ft) distance?

the microphones in question are schoeps MK4 (without pad) going through API A2D (gain knobs at 11 o'clock position).

thank you!
