SOO looking at the Sherman...i have read some thoughts that it is very experimental and that 'achieving a simple sweep can be quite difficult'..
The Filterbanks (there are a number of revisions by now) are very different from your regular synth filter. I'm no techie so I'll explain things more emotionally =). Parameters seem to be intertwined in the Filterbank which means that knobs alter the sound very differently depending on where the other knobs are. Move a few knobs just a couple of mm and you get radical changes, and you probably won't find your way back.... Am I being vague? When I decided to go for the Filterbank I tried a few boxes, including the Mutator. The Mutator, as I remember it, was a very nice sounding, but bread'n'butter filter. The Filterbank is anything but bread'n'butter, but that's also its strength in my opinion. You never know what's going to come out of that thing which means that there seem to be endless things to learn about it.

Let me know if I can be of any additional help.
