I dont know about the DVC but on the DMMP the inputs are not DI they are line level for processing synths and samplers. I would check the DVC manual, I imagine it is the same. The DI was a new circuit they added to the DVC, it was not present on the original DMMP. A dedicated line level in to the pre/ EQ would be cool indeed...
