| That interview is a load of publicity ****. Don't be had. It's full of ridiculous statements. Life is too short to bother with it all so I'll pick just one:
“I prefer a $37 Shure SM57 mic,” Badu reveals. “I have a very nasally voice. That mic has a lot of bottom in it."
Everyone who's played Sound Engineer knows the 57 has a rolled off bass response. It has a presence peak and is very midrange sounding. Used a lot on snares and guitar amps. I guess she thought it would be cool to say she's using a cheap mic for her vocals. If you listen to her recording it "shure" is no 57. |
