Those drawbacks you mention are exactly why the FW1082 is no good for me. I need at least 6 pres and the two outputs is not enough. And while I like the
idea of a controller, in practice it would take up too much desk real estate and IME they're just a pain in the ass to configure. After 5 years I've become very comfortable with mouse mixing & editing
