Yes their absolutely is awesome gear in the 500 format! I love the format, and actually prefer buying gear in that format. But you are most definitely limiting yourself when it comes to compression! And that is absolutely nothing against the compressors in the format, there is already great stuff there, and more coming (an Optograph in 500 form, c'mon it's brilliant!)
But the number of compressors in 500 form makes up a TINY TINY percentage of what is available in other forms! So yes, you absolutely are limited in choice when it comes to the 500 series. Is it possible to find the perfect compressor in 500 form? Sure!
