I would consider NOT limiting yourself to the 500 format maybe?? There are many things available in the format, but not many compressors. But the REST of the compressor world can live in a standard rack right above or below your lunchbox. Or you could buy a 4 space table top rack and then you have a 19" lunchbox for rack units.

hh I actually truly made myself LOL there.. Not trying to be a smart ass necessarily, I just never thought of that..
But anyways, don't know what your budget is, but you can get the SSL style stereo compressor from Chameleon Labs on the CHEAP! And everything I've read on it has been quite nice, considering the price!
