I think Drums is where the SSL Sound really shines. The Channel EQ is aggressive and certainly has grip whilst the Compressor is godsend on Drums - thus E-Channel on all Drumtracks! Talk about crack and snap on Snare. I have the Buss Compressor on the Drumbuss (+Tapehead) and use an outboard Gyraf SSL Clone on the 2 Buss. The EQ is really colourful (softer sounding than the E-Channel) and I like it too but it's definitely the Plug In of the Series I use the least. Sometimes on the Guitarbuss, though I mostly prefer my Toft Outboard EQ there or Filterbank for more precise cuts...
All in all I love the SSL Series. That and Massey Plugs are basically all I need when it comes to compression and EQ. Compressorbank and Filterbank is cool too but I use it a lot less since I have the SSL and the Massey stuff
