Just to elaborate a little further. I recall from the interview he mentioned that the 8200 had a bunch of "analog computers" - that is, electronic subsystems that perform various functions to control the unit, but don't actually have the audio signal passing through them. As DSP power advances, the idea is to recreate the "analog computing" portion digitally. Which makes it a lot more tweakable, and even upgradeable into the future.
