i just recently purchased the buzz & purple eq's to add some different 'flavors' while mixing, but must admit i have not used them enough to make a good comparison to the api's. my initial impressions are that they are useful and musical, but not as versatile or 'vibrant' as the api's. my typical mixing setup (for rock songs) has the api 560's on kick & snare and the 550b's on lead vox & bass.
