i have a macbook pro 2.16gb intel core duo processor. 1gb ram. OSX 10.4.11

i just bought a presonus firestudio project and everything works great but one thing, every once in a wile the audio screws up and starts popping (almost sounds like a scratched cd) it usually happens when i start playing audio in a different program and the only way i can get it to stop is to turn off the firestudio project and reset the audio in system preferences.

it is very annoying please help!
