the ones I usually use are Samsung's T166 160GB drives which are very fast, don't get hot and are quiet. The enclosure is fanless and aluminum. I can use a different drive if desired, it's actually customizable as I build unit by unit. Just ask, tell me your preference (you should only pick drives that you know are fast... unless you plan to move the stuff to your internal drive(s) anyway which you can do). Of course, picking a TB drive or a Raptor wouldn't work at the same price, but you already guessed that. Other options - ask.
