It seems everyone wants the MPC to compete with current computers and IMHO they just can't do that. They wouldn't have the resources.

Personally I don't think it looks to bad. ADAT is a nice addition as well as USB2 and the bigger screen.

Having said that, if I were making an MPC I would make it run more like a soundcard and be powered via firewire. A little box that runs off firewire powere with about 9 pads and it stores samples and acts like an external harddrive with a sequencer but is totally interfacable with some sort of aksys software.

To tell the truth seeing an MPC5000 makes me wish it was easier to get a 3000 here in OZ. Regardless I am more than happy with my 2500 and feel pretty damn lucky to live in the age we do.
