Here is a very rough live recording of my band, roughly mixed on a room that misteriously sucks all bass so it's kind of muddy, but you can hear a 609 in action...

Also, what's that clicking on the E609 black sample? Is that the picking?

No offense intended, but maybe you got mics that were mounted the wrong way round? Frankly, by the sample it sounds like the mic is back to the speaker.

I also wouldn't use a flat eq on the amp as the "benchmark". Who records guitars with a flat eq'd amp?
