When I worked for MOTU we built a MIDI to 1/4" cable to record the output of USB MIDI interfaces as audio to test their accuracy... but I doubt that's what that guy wanted it for. As my friend "magic dave" once said.. "people like to plug up all their orifices" (on their gear). That guy just had a 1/4" jack and MIDI jack that needed to be plugged up and so what better than a MIDI to 1/4" cable?
