it really depends what you want to do. they're actually very different beasts.
you can achieve the same basic results with either in the pitch department only though each of these go beyond this in different ways.
with melodyne you can also mess with time which is awesome for rephrasing and can be a real life saver. i found that tune deals with tuning a little more naturally and with better results.
i'm going to do a shootout in the basic tuning department on a track that's quite old and will upload the result of that test done with both waves tune and melodyne. i normally stop when it's getting unnatural and live with the fact i couldn't get it perfect but for this test i'm going to take it to where i would prefer it and you can judge for yourself which performed better. i should have it done by the end of next week - sorry for the delay but it's christmas ;-)
