I haven't read the rest of the thread but when I have been into a GC store for parts I find it a frustrating experience.
All the parts are import- nothing American made.

I have never bought a new guitar so I wouldn't be able to comment on that side of things.

Pro audio- there is usually one guy who knows something- and I just make sure I speak to *that guy*.

I actually find the GC people in the Springfield, NJ store to be really cool.
Across the road in Sam Ash I just get moody teenagers who seem to want me to punch them in the face.
