1. For portabilty, small and light. You carry a rack of 6 in one hand.
2. Exchanging module types eg. pres, eqs, comps variations.
3. Expandability, buy 2 now and buy more later. Have you noticed that rack pres seem to be cheaper since the modules have hit the scene in a big way.
Again API made the small Lunch Box for their modules first up, then the others followed. API modules have been around for a long time and they really don't make alot of money selling a rack power supply. I'm really not making this up, it's a fact. Maybe later API may beef up the juice on their powered racks...who knows, phone them up and complain to them.
