Upgrading Soundcard or Converter??

Hi everyone, I am a newbie here and I need some help from u guys!!
I have been using the Emu 1212M for 3 yrs now and it have been serving me well, but now I am thinking of some upgrade and I have came up with this 2 solutions:

1) keep the 1212M card, buy the RME ADI-2 and a presonus monitor station - I love the flexibility of the Patchmix DSP that I can make a headphone mix without any additional hardware, and I have been hear good things about the RME converter, so in this way I can keep the Emu card and have 2 more high quality in/out.

2) ditch the Emu card, buy the Lynx TwoA and a Soundcraft EPM6 mixer - the Lynx Two suppose to be better than the RME stuff right?!? I have check out their site and found out that their routing is not as good as the Emu that I need to buy the Soundcraft mixer for monitoring purpose(using the aux for headphone mix and talkback)

in which way I can get better quality recording/monitoring(for the money) ?!?I need no more than 4in/4out and my budget is only around US$1000(gear in Hong Kong is more expensive so this is what I can afford)

thanks in advance!!
