I use the Tacam DVRA1000.
1. I keep total control of Protools during the bounce
2. I go AES out of Apogee into the Tascam and can hence use Apogee's UV22HR, which I happen to like, but that is of course personal
3. It functions as a CD player
4. I can mount CD's on my desktop without having to use the, in my experience rather buggy, CD-DVD player/writer in the Mac (only thing I have had to replace in several Macs over the years).
