Don't be ashamed of "low end" equipment. If your songs are as good as the Beatles (they may be) your BOSS recorder would produce sounds far within acceptable limits in a good room and good players, with skill behind the board.
My theory is this: if you can and want to afford it, have 2 KILLER CHANNELS to work with. Great mics, great cables, great preamps, great conversion. Even recording an entire band, once drums are done most of the process is one or two channels at a time. This adds up tremendously at the end of a project.
